Mindfulness can be thought as a way of being.. that helps us be in contact with our experience on a moment to moment basis. Mindfulness can help improve Wellbeing. In its simplest form, use Sight, Sound, Taste, Touch and Smell to centre yourself in the PRESENT moment – rather than concentrating on what may happen in the future or what might have happened in the past. I can offer you online sessions in guided Mindfulness, from the comfort of your own home, so get in touch here. Continue reading Stay in the Present
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” Albert Einstein. I love this quote by Albert Einstein. What do you think when you read it? Sometimes I wish the governments of the world would the above quote and change the way they approach their problems; it would certainly be refreshing for us all! We can easily get caught up in a cycle of negativity while trying to overcome problems, and before long they seem bigger than before, as the same way of thinking brings about the same results. If you have a problem, … Continue reading Change the way you approach a problem.

Since Dr. Graham Bryce and I started the B C Balance & Dizziness Disorders Society (BADD) 15 years ago, I’ve talked with hundreds and hundreds of members dealing with vestibular disorders. When our first Board met around my kitchen table, we discussed a name for our fledgling support group. I noted that “Balance and Dizziness Disorders” which was chosen, would probably have the acronym BADD, which might not look good. The response? “Well, it IS bad.” So “BADD” we became. Balance and Dizziness Disorders ARE bad Through the years, members complain that… Continue reading To Family/Friends of Those with Balance and Dizziness (vestibular) Disorders
Off the usual track of Inspirational stories, I thought I would share this for fun… Murphy’s horse laws If you do a thorough check of your trailer before hauling, your truck will break down There is no such thing as a sterile barn cat No one ever notices how you ride until you fall off The least useful horse in your barn will eat the most, require shoes every four weeks and need the vet at least once a month A horse’s misbehavior will be in direct proportion to the number of people who are watching If you’re wondering if … Continue reading Horse Laws
Whatever happens, happens for the best… Story of Dr. Ahmed, Everything is Pre-planned Dr. Ahmed, a well-known cancer specialist, was on his way to another city for an important conference where he was to get an award in the field of Medical Research. He was really excited to attend the conference and to reach as shortly as possible. He had worked so long & hard on his research and felt his efforts deserved the award. However, after the plane takes off, within the next two hours, the plane made an emergency landing at the nearest airport due to some technical snag. … Continue reading Nothing happens by chance
From our day of Baking cakes, I can proudly state that this was very successful. Our son finding relief from his daily struggles with extreme sensitivities to textures, smells and keeping clean, even though only for a couple of hours, is something that we will revisit as often as we can. Our neighbours, family and friends will benefit over the coming months I am sure! The other positive thing that we discovered, is the decrease in anxieties during the busy times of preparation; even waiting for the finished cakes, were less demanding times for our son. Naturally as a parent, … Continue reading Baking with our Autistic Child – Part 3
A wolf was walking in the countryside. He found a sheep-skin spread on the ground. He thought, “If I wear this skin and get mixed up in the flock, the shepherd will not suspect me. At night, I will kill a stout sheep and then take him away with me”. The wolf covered himself with the sheep-skin and got mixed up with a flock of sheep. As he had expected, the shepherd took him as a sheep and shut him also in the pen. The wolf was waiting for the night. The shepherd had a feast that night. He sent … Continue reading Wolf in Sheep skin
Why is my life full of struggles? A rich man, every night, prays the same prayer to God. He repeats his prayers again and again on a daily basis. In his words, he would ask, “God, please do one favour for me, at least one favour — and I have been asking this my whole life. As clearly as I know, I am the most unhappy man on the earth. Why have you made my life full of problems? I am ready to exchange my difficulties with anybody else; anybody will do — just let me exchange my troubles with … Continue reading A thought of Struggling in Life
Walk and Talk therapy is what it says on the tin. Instead of sitting in front of a therapist in a traditional therapy room, our session takes place outdoors, walking together in a natural environment; it is therapy in motion and more dynamic and positive for your overall wellbeing. If you have felt a sameness or being stuck with a therapy in the past, then a change in environment might be what you need. Walking outside amongst the natural environment, preferrably where it is peaceful, we can explore areas of life that are causing concern for you. Using a variety … Continue reading Walk and Talk – ASD

Most of us wander through life searching for that something, but never quite find it. Sound familiar? Personally, it took me 50 years to find my true calling and I have never looked back. How did it come about? Well, the first part of that journey started by taking a walk along the promenade at Joppa, a place that I knew well from my childhood. It was at the end of this gentle walk, when I realized that life and the things that made it alive, were here, right in front of me, and I had forgotten they existed until … Continue reading Looking for a meaning to life? “Breathing in, I know that Anger is in me” “Breathing out, I know that I am my anger” By Mindfully observing our anger, we are more aware of its roots. We are not to control or judge the anger. only we are to look after the anger, as a sister would to a younger sibling. When we show anger, we are showing our self. To suppress the anger is to suppress the self. “Breathing in, I know that I am angry” “Breathing out,I know that I must put all my energy into caring for my anger” In time the anger … Continue reading Anger and Mindfulness
