About Clive
Clive is a sometime philosopher, thinker, dreamer, birdwatcher, poet, and occasional writer. Born in the West Country he now lives and writes in beautiful North Wales. He draws inspiration from nature, especially birds, which he has been watching for as long as he can remember.
He has a natural empathy with animals, especially dogs cats and horses, at one time even having his own riding stables, and likes to think that in a previous life he was a ‘horse whisperer’. Clive went on to study Psychology and Animal Behaviour which is a subject that still interests him today.
Retired now he continues to watch birds and has taken to writing haiku about them. He has had poems published in many of the leading haiku journals and recently has self published two groundbreaking digital ebooks of his poetry. He is a guest author here where he occasionally writes about the mindfulness of watching birds and haiku.
His haiku, and other Japanese short-form poetry have been variously described as ‘transcendental’ – ‘inspiring, interesting, and brilliantly written.’ Like ‘love letters to nature’ – ‘conjuring many layers of loveliness, with the lightness of gently falling leaves’.

Growing up Clive was always a loner often at odds with his peers. He seemed to think and feel differently. It wasn’t until later on in life with a family of his own that he came to realise that he was probably ADHD, but never diagnosed. He even wrote a poem (Cherita) about it.
But he also believes it is this which enables him to write insightful poetry and prose and gave him his ability to ‘talk to the animals’.
His latest ebooks of haiku can be read here …
Clive’s ebooks are free to view and have been written expressly for reading on-line, with embedded music, birdsongs and occasional video.
