Setting an intention for the day is a great habit to get into. I do this as part of my daily morning meditation.
I also visualise what I would like to happen during my day.
Being thankful for everything that I have experienced, even the negative ones, as they are life’s lessons to be learned from so as not to repeat them.
Think of an important goal that you have for the day, anything at all, and focus on that goal. See it, by visualizing the goal and tell yourself how you are going to achieve what you set out to do.
See everything as it happens and feel the emotions as you accomplish your goal in your mind.
Visualising what obstacles you had to negotiate to get to the end goal.
Feel your body tingling with joy as you experience the exciting moments.
And notice how you feel overall as you have this amazing sense of power, where your inner thoughts made it possible to obtain your goal.
These positive intentions that you set out at the start of the day, can feel real, more than just a thought, yet when you start out on your journey to achieve that goal, you should be able to stride out with conviction, as you have already done the ground-work, even though it was only a visualisation.

Thank you for these specific examples like visualizing. Our new home is more rural that where we used to live. Deer and rabbits sometimes come into our yard and goats and sheep are in a fenced field not far away. Since we do not yet have the fence up, I have been nervous about walking our husky mix, Marley, with his high prey drive in the yard. I will apply intentionality of feeling confidence walking Marley on a leash and remember the training that helped him be less reactive to cats in our old neighborhood. I will also feel more confident driving on roads that are new to me. I appreciate what you wrote about “being thankful for everything that I have experienced, even the negative ones, as they are life’s lessons to be learned…” I have learned the hard way to be mindful and vigilant when I walk Marley and when I drive the car.
