Affirmations for anxiety

These affirmations for anxiety are for you if you struggle with anxious thoughts, nagging worries, or intense moments of fear. We know that constant stress and unease can zap your creative brain power and keep you stuck in life.

Do you struggle with social anxiety, or generally battle chronic worry and tension in your everyday life?

Social anxiety is very common but can feel debilitating if you live with this specific fear. After all, we live in a society where meeting and talking to people is a big part of work, training, and maintaining both platonic and romantic relationships.

I have listed these specific affirmations for social anxiety to help you feel more confident and comfortable the next time you walk into a social situation.

Try saying these affirmations out loud, first thing in the morning, then again just before you go to bed at night:

  1. I am capable of making new friends.
  2. I am a good person.
  3. I have a lot to offer.
  4. I gravitate towards people who are kind and understanding.
  5. Everyone here is human, just like me.
  6. It’s okay to be nervous. I can still show up.
  7. I will meet people who accept me as I am.
  8. I enter this situation with an open heart.
  9. I can move past this moment
  10. As I breathe I will become calm and more in charge.
  11. With every breath I take, I am letting in positive air.
  12. With each breath out, I am letting negative air out.

Okay, so now you have some great ways to incorporate these soothing statements into your daily routine, but how about when you’re in a moment of intense fear?

Anyone who’s ever had a panic attack knows how scary they are. And in these scary moments, that’s when the words we tell ourselves really matter.

Affirmations for anxiety can be incredibly useful when you feel panic coming on. If you can, get to a place where you can sit or lie down, close your eyes, and repeat a calming affirmation like the ones above that you have practiced.

Keep it simple.

You could add statements like “I will get through this” and “This too shall pass”. The goal is to breathe through the panic, allowing it to run its course and subside versus resisting it (which can make your anxiety worse).
