Visualisation Meditation

Practising the a Visualisation Meditation

If you are looking for a useful and relaxing meditation to practice, then the following will be of great help to you.

We will use a Visualisation to compliment the Meditation. The best way I can describe Visualisation is the act of imagining mental graphics or pictures in your head, to re-enforce the instructions given verbally.

The Tree of Life Meditation

In this visualisation, we aim to imagine our body as a large tree, in order to change your mindset and achieve positive growth.

To prepare, all you require is a wee bit of space around you, and somewhere you will not be disturbed. You may lie down, sit or stand; it is a personal preference. Anyway, on to the meditation.

The Meditation:

To start, close your eyes and concentrate your mind on the act of breathing.

Breathing in and breathing out as you do normally.

It is time to practice our visualisation where your body transforms into a tree.

The Tree is rooted firmly into the ground, while its branches are reaching high towards the sky.

Concentrating on visualising now, we imagine that the roots are growing from the soles of your feet, digging deep into the earth with every breath.

Picture these roots as strong yet flexible, anchoring you securely to the ground.

As you breath inwards, feel the roots grow deeper and more stable, creating a solid foundation. As you breath outwards, release any tension that you have, directing it into the ground around you.

Picture the earth absorbing the tension and negative energy and draining it away from your roots, leaving you feeling free from apprehension.

Now, imagine your legs and chest transforming into a strong tree trunk, to further support you.

The roots are firmly anchored into the ground, and your trunk sits from the ground upwards to where your arms have become branches, reaching high and wide to embrace the sky.

As you breath inwards, feel the branches expanding higher and outwards seeking life and positive energy. As you breath outwards, you are releasing used air into the atmosphere. Repeat these actions, as you stretch upwards, as your breath in, then breath out, and stretching further on the next breath in and so on.

We breath in positive energy in Oxygen. We breath out negative energy in Carbon Dioxide.

Stretching the branches as far as you can go, seeking to connect with the clouds above…this action is to seek the rays of sunshine, which brings health, warmth and feelings of positive growth.

Next, focus on the flow of energy within you. Visualise the sunlight coming in through the top of the trunk, travelling downward, to your roots, bring positive energy and strength. This symbolizes life energy moving effortlessly through the tree.

And prepare now to come back to the present shortly, as you remain aware of your breathing, and the positive energy all around your very being.

And open your eyes.

Further observations:

This visualisation is called the tree of life for a reason –

The sun brings life to all living things, as trees convert carbon dioxide into oxygen through a process called photosynthesis.

Visualising yourself as a tree from the roots to the trunk promote strength and security, while the branches draw on sunlight and positive energy.  Combined, these qualities can improve your overall wellbeing, as you should feel more self aware, confident and to make you feel lighter and increase self awareness, promoting positive mental health…

You can extend the meditation as long as you wish. There is no right or wrong method in visualising meditations, as we all see and feel emotion differently.

The meditation is my own work. You are free to copy this but please give credit to your source thanks.

I have included my Audio file of this meditation below, which can be used to try out the exercise.

Thanks for sharing this experience with me.
